720p, 1080p, 1440p: what resolution do you actually need?

30 August 2026 · 5 min read

Resolution describes how many pixels make up each frame. More pixels mean more detail, but also bigger files and longer uploads.

720p is plenty for phones and small embeds. 1080p is the sweet spot for laptops and most monitors.

1440p is worth it for large displays, or when you plan to crop or zoom in during editing.

Converting to a higher resolution than the source won't add detail. Pick the closest match to your original instead.
