Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about downloading videos with SaveTheClip.

Getting started

Do I need to sign up?

No. SaveTheClip works without an account. Paste a link, pick MP4 or MP3 and download.

Which sites are supported?

Over 1000, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, Reddit, Vimeo, Twitch, Dailymotion and SoundCloud. SaveTheClip uses the open-source yt-dlp engine, so anything it supports works here.

Am I allowed to download any video?

Only download videos you own, that are licensed for reuse, or that you otherwise have permission to save. Respect copyright and the terms of the site you're downloading from.

Is it really free?

Yes. MP4 and MP3 downloads are free.

Formats & quality

Should I choose MP4 or MP3?

Choose MP4 to keep the picture. Choose MP3 when you only need the sound, for example music, podcasts or lectures.

Which resolutions can I pick?

After you hit Fetch, the quality menu lists every resolution the original video offers, from 144p up to 4K where available.

Why did my download fail?

The video may be private, age-restricted, region-locked or removed. Try another link, or check that the page plays in your browser.

Privacy & safety

Do you keep my files?

Downloaded files are stored on the server only so your browser can fetch them, and are not shared or published.

Do you show ads?

No. There are no pop-ups, redirects or ad networks on SaveTheClip.
