How it works

Chat apps build link previews from tags on the page. Instagram hides the video from them, so we create a page with the real video and photo tags (Open Graph and Twitter player). Paste our link and the preview shows the playable Reel.

Quick trick: swap the domain

Change instagram.com/reel/ABC to savetheclip.app/e/reel/ABC (or /p/ for posts) and send that instead. For a specific carousel slide, add its number at the end, like /e/p/ABC/3.

Works for viewers too

Anyone who clicks the link sees the video with buttons to open it on Instagram or download it, with no login needed.
